Smallville Season 1 Review

Having just completed watching season 1, now is as good as any time to give a review and detail my thoughts on the show. each episode is self contained with only small items of plot added each show to the bigger picture. the episodes seem formulaic in that they start with something weird happening mainly due to the meteor rocks, with revenge being the most common motivation behind wrong doing which clark must figure out and stop, on paper the episodes dont sound all that good but with the quality of story telling and great acting the show is very addictive.

The characters are built up well, Clark and Lex being the most complex, it is always difficult to read Lex, is there some good in him or is everything he does got a motive. The love triangles in the show are fustrating to watch at times, Clark can be so clueless to Chloes hints, you just want to slap him out of his Lana fixation. Clarks parents Martha and Johnathan add a backbone to the show and avoid the show being just anxti teenagers from a small town, there is also a hard edge to smallville which is good, people die which shows us that even superman cant save everyone. The first season was a success in my book and i look forward to reviewing season 2.
